Laboratory Point of Care Coordinator

Are you a detail-oriented lab professional with a passion for quality and education? University Health is looking for a dynamic POCT Coordinator to help shape and oversee the point-of-care testing program across our health system.


What You’ll Do:

As our POCT Coordinator, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring safe, accurate, and compliant point-of-care testing conducted by non-laboratory clinical staff. You’ll:

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate POCT procedures

  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all testing sites

  • Support quality programs aligned with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Provide training, oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives


What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science. 

  • Completion of a CAHEA-approved clinical training program

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on lab testing experience

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and other data tools

  • Experience in training, auditing, or lab quality assurance is a plus


Licensure/Certification:

  • Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) is required OR

  • Certification in Specialty for area of laboratory employment  required without a Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) certification.  A specialist certification limits qualification to the area of specialization only.

  • Note: must obtain certification in clinical laboratory sciences or laboratory categorical within the first six (6) months from date of hire.

  • Must maintain certification status in compliance with specifications for continuing education required by the certification agency.
