Patient Access Coordinator
Detention Health Care SvcsPOSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Primary responsibility is collecting, verifying, updating and entering complete and accurate financial and demographic patient information into the computer system. Assures the activities involving patient care appointments, procedure arrangements, follow-up visits, transportation, etc., are met in a timely fashion. Assists other para-administrative and clerical duties in support of access services, which includes pre-registration, financial screening, and patient account inquiry. Acts as a liaison between patients, physicians and other staff members. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient information.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent experience is required. Prefer one year of college study or the completion of a recognized clerical vocational training program with medical terminology. Employment in the University Health Admission Department for at least one year and access management experience is preferred. Insurance industry experience and knowledge of Windows software is preferred. Designated cash handlers must successfully complete the Patient Services Cashier course and be designated as a Patient Services Cashier during the initial probationary period.
