Pharmacy Programs Manager
University Family Hlth Ctr SWPOSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages pharmaceutical supplies of the Pharmacy for neonatal through adult patients, subject to JCAHO, OSHA, Medicare/Medicaid standards and Texas State Board of Pharmacy Rules and Regulations. Provides leadership in the purchase of pharmaceuticals to assure that contract and best prices are purchased throughout the pharmacy departments. Responsibilities encompass coordination of purchases through the Pharmacy wholesaler, assuring that correct prices are loaded and executed for Pharmacy purchases. Oversight of purchasing programs to assure adherence to UH Purchasing and Integrity policies. Oversight of Pyxis and floor stock systems and deliveries of drugs to patient care areas. Oversight of control substance storage and distribution policies and procedures, including procedures for security and policies of automated systems. Responsibility for keeping control substance records, taking inventory, theft and loss reports, reconciling of records. Policies and procedures for segregating and destroying outdated or quarantined drugs, procedures for monitoring shortages and responding to drug recalls. Assistance of oversight of 340B programs to assure compliance with the 340B rules. Assists Manager for Pharmacoeconomic Programs/340B compliance to assure compliance with Office of Pharmacy Affairs rules and regulations
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Licensure to practice Pharmacy in the State of Texas is required. Five (5) years experience in clinically oriented hospital pharmacy is required. Leadership skills and a strong computer systems orientation are preferred. Capability of developing computer programs to facilitate tracking, purchasing, data collection, create shelf labels, is required. Ability to work with word processing and spreadsheet programs is preferred

Must be licensed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy
