Laboratory Point of Care Coordinator
University HospitalAre you a detail-oriented lab professional with a passion for quality and education? University Health is looking for a dynamic POCT Coordinator to help shape and oversee the point-of-care testing program across our health system.
What You’ll Do:
As our POCT Coordinator, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring safe, accurate, and compliant point-of-care testing conducted by non-laboratory clinical staff. You’ll:
Develop, implement, and evaluate POCT procedures
Ensure regulatory compliance across all testing sites
Support quality programs aligned with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Provide training, oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical, or biological science.
Completion of a CAHEA-approved clinical training program
Minimum 2 years of hands-on lab testing experience
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and other data tools
Experience in training, auditing, or lab quality assurance is a plus
Licensure/Certification:
Certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) or American Medical Technologists (AMT) is required OR
Certification in Specialty for area of laboratory employment required without a Medical Laboratory Science (or equivalent) certification. A specialist certification limits qualification to the area of specialization only.
Note: must obtain certification in clinical laboratory sciences or laboratory categorical within the first six (6) months from date of hire.
Must maintain certification status in compliance with specifications for continuing education required by the certification agency.
