POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with the Director to manage the operations, growth and programmatic efforts of the Safe Kids Coalition. Coordinates and delivers Safe Kids and other childhood injury prevention programs to patients and the community based on community needs assessments, trauma registry data, regional registry data and/or state morbidity and mortality data. Collaborates with staff from other University Health and UT Health San Antonio departments. Implements initiatives using health education methods and techniques that are developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive in order to achieve program objectives. Coordinates and/or participates in health fairs, community events, conferences, wellness programs and other appropriate venues.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in allied health profession, health education or equivalent experience is required. Experience with public speaking and/or teaching, individually or in groups, is required. Experience with media relations or interviewing is preferred. Experience in community health promotion, volunteer activity coordination, or health education in a community health setting is preferred. English/Spanish fluency is preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION

A valid Texas Driver’s License “Class C” is required and must maintain a clean Motor Vehicle Record. Must obtain certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician within 6 months of hire. Certified Community Health Worker or Health Education Specialist status is preferred.
