University HospitalUniversity Health is the public hospital district for Bexar County and a major academic health system affiliated with UT Health San Antonio. As a Level I Trauma Center, University Health serves a diverse patient population across a wide range of clinical settings and specialties.
Program Overview
The Bexar County Health District: University Health CPE Program is provisionally accredited by the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE): The Standard for Spiritual Care and Education.
This year-long, full-time program provides:
- 40 hours/week (including rotating evening & weekend shifts)
- Educational partnership with the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine (UIWSOM)
- Direct clinical spiritual care experience
- Individual supervision and peer group process
- Supportive, collaborative education
- Practical didactics and skill development
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor’s degree, One unit or more of CPE (or equivalent ministry experience of at least one year), formal endorsement or written statement of good standing within the applicant’s faith / orienting tradition.
Preferred: MDiv (or advanced degree equivalent), Ordination
