POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs the overall operation of the inpatient pharmacy department including, but not limited to, physician order verification for accuracy and appropriateness, drug storage, medication security and distribution, staffing and assuring appropriate use of equipment and other resources. Assures compliance with USP 797 in Sterile Processing and compliance with TJC, Texas State Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory agencies. Provides strategic leadership in continuous improvements of pharmacy operations. Communicates effectively with staff and other professional colleagues and represents pharmacy in meetings and multi-disciplinary teams as assigned. Routinely demonstrates the values of the department and the organization. Promotes the University Health Customer Relation's policy.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Licensure to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas is required. Masters Degree in Business or Health Care Administration is preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of experience in a pharmacy leadership position in the acute care setting. Strong communications and computer skills is required.
LICENSURE
Licensure or license eligible to practice pharmacy in the State of Texas is required. Must be registered with the Texas state Board of Pharmacy as a Preceptor.
