POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, ordering, tracking, and receiving of surgical instruments/supplies, physical set building, vendor/OR coordinating, backup inventory maintenance, "instructions for use" (IFU) documentation, workflow process improvements, and generally maintaining an adequate level of instruments necessary for the efficient functioning of customer departments. Additionally, the Instrument Coordinator will be the department liaison to Biomed, to assist in streamlining repair requests, prioritizing immediate OR needs, driving down replacement instrument costs, and developing education programs to reduce damage caused by care and handling issues. This candidate must also demonstrate an understanding of the equipment and chemicals used in reprocessing reusable instruments and equipment and the ability to use knowledge to implement appropriate processes in a safe and timely manner to include handling and decontamination of soiled instrument, inspection, assembly, packaging and sterilization. Required to provide preceptor support to other employees and an educational program at least once monthly to other team members.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent and four-year undergraduate degree (BS, BA, or BSN) required. CRCST and CIS mandatory; CHL strongly preferred at time of hire; or complete CHL within first six months of hire. Experience within University Health is preferred.
