Orthopedic Technician
Texas Diabetes InstitutePOSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies and removes casts, splints, and other orthopedic devices. Performs wound and skin care and provides basic instructions to the patients/significant others. Supports and maintains University Health's policies, protocols, values, and guest relations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED is required. Graduate of an accredited trade school with a diploma as an Orthopedic Technician or Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or certification from an approved credentialing body for Medical Assistants with a minimum of six months experience as an Orthopedic Technician in a similar setting. One year's experience in a clinic, doctor's office or ambulatory care setting is preferred.
LICENSURE
Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card.
