Director, Infection Control

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs activities and procedures relating to infection control in University Health. Determines if proper infection control procedures are being utilized and assists in the development and/or implementation of improved measures of infection control. Promotes the University Health Customer Relation's policy and possesses excellent interpersonal skills.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A baccalaureate degree in microbiology /medical technology OR graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. Three years experience in clinical nursing, medical microbiology, hospital epidemiology OR infection control is required. Minimum of three years strong experience in department management. Must be familiar with identification of pathogens/methodology of antibiotic susceptibility testing; normal microbial flora of the human body and its distribution.

LICENSURE
If a professional nurse, must be currently licensed in the State of Texas. Medical Technologist must possess current licensure/registration. Certification in Infection Control is preferred.
