Senior Paralegal
University HospitalPOSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides skilled and efficient administrative, legal and office management support for the department of Legal Services. Enhances the effectiveness of all attorneys by monitoring the progress of all departmental matters, to include claims and litigation, as well as record retention requirements and transactional matters. Assures the prompt performance of duties, the recognition of priorities, and the sensitivity of matters involved. Exercises individual initiative and independent judgment in relieving staff from minor and routine matters. Complies with instructions from legal staff and preserves the confidential nature of information. Maintains good public relations and a good working relationship with coworkers and other University Health employees at all levels of the organization, physicians, patients, Board members, public officials, and members of the community-at-large.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Completion of college-level coursework in paralegal studies, business administration, legal studies, or a related field is preferred. A bachelor's degree in business, management, legal studies, public administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
Successful completion of an accredited paralegal program, or completion within two (2) years from the hire date is required. Candidates must possess experience in a responsible legal assistant, legal coordinator, or paralegal role. Experience in a healthcare, hospital, governmental, or other public-sector environment is preferred.
